| The Child as Partner in Medication Management. Self Monitoring as a Life Long Skill A training module for adult providers. The presenter explores a medication management model where roles are clearly defined and passive compliance is replaced by a partnership. The client learns to become a part of a team, to self monitoring as a life skill and to be truly informed consumers whether they stay on or go off medications. The psychiatric team, referred to as “Helping Experts” working to listen, support and educate the client toward competency replacing simple medication compliance. (* go to full description) Self Medication Administration: A Serious Business: This is s training module for clients. In this world of minors self administration medications, there is many a slip between “cup and lip”. Build safety into your program by teach the young person control over this part of their medications program. It is wise from a clinical, as well as a liability perspective. This training module is meant for young people age 8-20. It teaches young persons to know what their medications look like and to always check for color, size and number before they put them in their mouth. The motto is “Wise up- Don’t Rush: Don’t Make a Mistake”. It teaches the child to know what each medication is used for. What laboratory blood tests levels are and the criteria for knowing whether the medication is making a positive difference and to recognize adverse responses. Lastly, it includes a daily diary and Client-Psychiatrists Information Form. This form as a way to partner with and communicate with psychiatrist/prescribers. “Piss Off”: A quick guide to Enuresis/Review of primary and secondary enuresis, factors contributing to, optional nursing/treatment plans and including the child, therapist and community in that plan. Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS): A psychiatric crisis/ Definition, assessment, importance of lab values, treatment, overview The Adolescent in Sickness and in Health: Educating about health as a life skill and the healing of a damaged body/ Guide to helping the child develop more adaptive skills at dealing with and expressing trauma, grief, shame, and guilt while allowing the body to heal and to rest. “Safe is, as Safe does”: A Guide to Bloodborne Pathogens and Universal Precautions/ OSHA Training Module. “A Special Good bye” -A little book for foster care kids where “goodbye” can be a frequent event. |
